Malachite is formed through a secondary process in the oxidation zone of copper ore deposits. Malachite is a banded light and dark green crystal with a dull and silky lustre. Its crystal habit is in massive forms that are botryoidal, stalactitic or globular. The crystals are fibrous and are frequently found as pseudomorphs of azurite.
Malachite can be found in the Congo, Namibia, Russia, Mexico, Australia, England and the USA.
Malachite is an important protection stone. It absorbs negative energies and pollutants. It should be cleaned regularly by placing on a clear quartz cluster and placed in the sun. Malachite guards against radiation of all kinds. It should be placed in the home of anyone who lives near a nuclear or natural radiation source. It also clears electromagnetic pollution and heals earth energies.
